My DIY Body Butter Is So Good

You will be tempted to eat it, it just looks yummy

Today I am so excited to share my recipe for my body butter, its rich, its fluffy, its my DIY body butter.

I started making this body butter to use on my elbows and my feet, because those areas were getting very dry and they were not responding to my cream that I was buying.

So I researched and found a way to make my own body butter, and since I started using it, my skin is amazing, I even started just using it all over my body now, I have to say when I first made it it was a bit hard.

So this time, I have reduced the amount of Cocoa Butter, and increased the oils, so lets just jump right into the recipe.

  • 30 grams, pure unrefined Cocoa Butter
  • 2 tablespoons Extra virgin Olive oil
  • 1 table spoon organic cold pressed castor oil
  • 2 tablespoons sweet Almond oil.
  • 1 tablespoon Aloe Vera gel, I just used my own from my plant which I scraped from half a leaf of Aloe Vera

You can get most of what you need here

Here comes the fun part, how to make it, this is the easiest thing to make, all you have to do is melt everything in a jar over simmering water. you could melt it in the microwave but I got better results when l melted it slowly over simmering water.

make sure you will be able to whip the butter in the jar, that way you will not have a messy kitchen. so when the cocoa butter is compiltely melted, pop the jar in the fridge and wait untill it starts to harden, don’t let it harden too much, just push your finger in the jar and make sure the bottom has also started to harden.

then take it out and just whip it with your hand mixer, starting at low speed and then high speed for about 2 to 3 minutes, it should look like butter icing, at this point your body butter is ready, it looks so good, you just wanna eat it but don’t.

you can just leave it in the same jar if you like or you can transfer it into another jar, I did not put any essential oils because the cocoa butter smells so nice, like chocolate, absolutely amazing.

At room temperature your body butter should hold its texture, I don’t make a lot because as you have noticed we did not put any preservatives, every ingredient is organic and natural, so the butter will probably hold its freshness for about 1 month.

Last time I made two bunches and lasted me about 6 weeks but by the end of six weeks I noticed the texture was not the same so I think its better to make just enough to last you about a month.

You can use this body butter on your skin or you can use it as hand cream, or even as night lip treatment, you can even use it as eye cream, l sometimes use it as eye cream before bed.

I am very happy with this this body butter, and you can play with ingredients and come up with your own recipe, like you could substitute Cocoa butter with Shea butter, you can also add essential oils like lavender or any other kind that you like.

Go ahead and try this body butter, its amazing, please live me a comment and tell me what you think or if you have a recipe that you think I should try.

Thank you so much for your time

Rose

  2. I never thought about making body butter myself. Considering how expensive organic body butters are, this is a great idea! I must give it a try. Could I use coconut oil for it too? I like using coconut oil on my skin.

  3. Hey, Rose!!
I loved this post. This body butter looks so awesome! I am into the natural products and use a lot of essential oils. I definitely would add an oil or two to this. Have you made it with Shea butter and if so does it have the same texture and consistency? And also when you try the coconut oil will you get back to me on that and let me know how that is? I use a lot of coconut oil also. I’m saving this recipe so I can try it really soon. Thanks so much!
