5 Reasons Why We Should Use Natural Skin Care Products.

Today Blog post is inspired by questions I have been getting since I started my journey of encouraging people to stop putting toxins on their skin, it’s been a task especially when I talk about Make-up. So lets see 5 reasons why we should use Natural skin care Products. I have done some research and I have discovered that people are actually using a lot of natural skin care products.

Things like facial cleansers and masks people are buying natural and organic kind, and this is very good, the only challenge now, is to convince people that they have to do the same when it comes to Make up. So today we are going to look at the benefits of using Natural products on your skin.

My Little Embarrassing Elbow Story

Number one reason why Natural products are better than the regular refined and synthetic ones. Let me tell you a little story about me, for the past few years, I have been spending lots of money buying creams to fix a problem I have had for a while. Its abit embarrassing but I will share it anyway, my elbows have been very rough and dry ever since I can remember.

So I had been trying all kinds of creams and lotions for dry skin, I would apply, and my elbows would look good as long as the cream is present, but once the cream is gone, I am back to where I started. I got really frustrated, then one day I read an article about DIY skin creams, and in that Article the writer mentioned Pure Unrifined Cocoa Butter, so I Searched online where to get it from because the article didn’t provide a link where I could buy it. Anyway I found it on Ebay. so when my package arrived, I melted the cocoa butter in the microwave and added some olive oil.

This is my DIY Cream

My DIY Cream

And I have only been using it for few weeks and I am seeing results already when I wake up in the morning, my elbows are not dry as they used to be. So my skin is absorbing the Cocoa Butter and olive oil better than the creams I was using before, in fact, I love it so much that I am now using it on other parts of my body too. This means that my DIY cream, is deeply nourishing and hydrating my skin.

Reason Number Two- Safety, if you use Natural products, you know you are safe and you are not going to damage your skin in any way, I mean think of something like Olive Oil, it doesn’t get any safer than that.

Reason number three why Natural products are better than the regular onesNourishment.

the natural oils are designed to nourish your skin, so they are not designed to just look and smell good, they are supposed to nourish and repair your skin, the big brands are so concerned about appearance and smell of the product, that they spend lots of money researching that aspect of the product while neglecting the nourishment aspect of the product.

To be quite honest with you, I would rather smell like salad by using Olive oils on my skin, than smell nice yet the cream I have used is doing little to nothing to hydrate and nourish my skin. Of course, you don’t have to smell like salad because, these days we have many Natural and organic brands that are manufacturing products that smell heavenly and are great for your skin.

Reason Number Four. Healing and repair properties, l honestly don’t know why we don’t want to take advantage of all the things mother nature has provided us with, like aloe Vera, which has healing and soothing properties, that if your skin is irritated in any way, applying some Aloe Vera reach cream or gel, will sooth the skin and make you feel Better.

I am not saying that all natural products are good, because I know there are people out there who are perhaps allergic to some oils or bee products or what ever it is, my word here is not final, these are just my opinions based on my experiences and some research. I am only trying to point out that there is no need for us to keep putting toxic products on our skin, and so it’s up to you to find the natural product that you like and that works for you and your family.

Reason Number 5- Anti Aging properties in natural oils, OK so maybe I should have put this as number one because we all know how much money people and especially women are spending on Anti aging procedures and treatments, I even made a post a while back about the Snake Venom cream that is selling like hot cakes because the Makers of the cream claim that the results you get by using the cream, are better than doing Botox. That stuff is very popular in HollyWood.

Instead of smearing your self with snake venom, I think its better you cleanse your skin with a product that contains Chamomile, how about you apply a face cream that contains things like olive oil Grapeseed oil coconut oil, or Sesame oil and Coco butter on your skin?, take some vitamin C and E, take suppliments that contain omega 3 and Q10 the Coenzyme which fuels energy production in cells in your body including the skin., Q10 is good for your skin, and as we age the production of this enzyme declines that’s why its wise to invest in a good Q10 suppliment.

Let’s Talk Make Up

Now I am going to touch a little bit on Make-up, this seems to be a sore subject, because when I try to talk about natural makeup, I seem to be getting some resistance, but I will say this, Our faces are like our front desks, this is where someone firsts look when they meet you (at least I hope that’s where they are looking lol) your Face consists of your

lips

your eyes

and of course your nose and cheeks( OK I know you already know that lol)

My point is, your eyes if you are a woman, and even some men, you will be applying eyeliner, mascara and eyeshadow on your eye area which is a very sensitive area and things could go very wrong if you use wrong products on this area. And even if it does not end in disaster, continue use of harsh or toxic chemicals on your eye area, could lead to drying out of the skin arround your eyes which could lead to aging and wrinkles prematurely.

Then as I said in my previous post about lipstick, we need to think twice when purchasing a tube of lipstick because some of it will end up in your stomach and your partner’s stomach through kissing. l will not go into so many details about lipstick because l already covered this topic, if you would like to read my Post about lipstick Please Click Here

Those are my thoughts about why we should use Natural skin care and Make Up products. I would like for you my reader to promise me one thing, that the next time you go skin care products shopping or make-up shopping, you will be more conscious about the ingredients.

before I close this post, let me mention some oils that are really beneficial to the skin

  1. Avocado oil
  2. Jojoba oil
  3. Sesame Oil
  4. Evening Primrose oil
  5. sunflower oil
  6. Almond Oil
  7. Olive Oil
  8. Castor Oil
  9. grapeseed Oil
  10. Coconut Oil.

Thank you so much for reading this article and thank you for your time.

Please feel free to leave me a comment about this topic, or about your experience with make-up and skin care products in general.

  1. Snake venom!?!  Sounds more like Snake Oil.  Do you know if the oils you listed are generally available as certified GMO-free?  That is a very important consideration for my family.  And although you focused more on makeup, have you had any experience dealing with skin/scalp conditions such as (really bad) dandruff?

    • Yes the snake cream is Called snake Venom cream, its not a snake oil, its a face cream.  they say theirs is a synthetic version of the venom.  well, yes I have experience with Dandruff, I actually made a Post about how to get rid of Dandruff with Castor Oil. well, on this  Post I did not post any brands of Oil I just gave a general list, its up to you to find a brand that you trust. the Oils I get, l trust the Brands and I trust that they meet my requirements.

  2. I have been using a cocoa butter cream for a long while now, but I haven’t heard of this method. I am definitely going to try melting it and mixing it with some olive oil and I’ll get back to you on how that goes. I think organic natural skin care products are the most functional with very less risks with chemicals. Excellent article!

  3. Thank you for the useful details, I have a skin problem myself that has been there as long as remember, my face gets really dry and starts peeling, peels are annoying enough, not to mention that when it happens my skin becomes super dry and I look like 10 years older, I tried to use all kinds of mosuraizing creams but as you said, it is only effective when the cream is still there, I tried to use natural products like coconut oil, it had a better results but not long term.

I will try your solution and see how much it lasts.

    • Hi Amer Malas, I am so sorry to hear about your skin problem, I think you should see what you dermatologist has say about it, because it sounds like its not responding to what you are doing. also it must be frustrating because its on the face, I suggest you have it looked at by a dermatologist. anyway, good luck to you and thank you for your comment.

  4. Hi Rose,
I am 100% with you on using natural and organic products. I used to work at a natural medicine facility and learned a lot of things so for 10 years now have used only natural and organic products. People cannot believe that I am nearly 50 lol. Have you written any home made recipes? maybe you can add some, I am always interested in home made products/recipes.

  5. Hello!
What oil would you recommend for a child who has bumpy rough skin, she is also on medications for Epilepsy. I am always afraid to use something that will interact with her meds and make things worse.

    • Hi, Brianne, I would recommend you speak to a pediatrician about what kind of oil is good for the child’s skin, ask if its OK to use Olive oil, because that’s my favorite Oil, does the child eat food prepared with olive oil? if yes then I don’t think it would cause any trouble on her skin, but to be sure please speak to her Doctor. thank you for your comment.
