We All want to have a Good yet safe non toxic Lipstick Right?
Today I would like us to talk about lipstick, not just about the shades and lasting power, but about how safe it is to put on your lips. and if its possible to find a toxin free lipstick.
If there is one thing we should be careful about when it comes to make-up, it’s our lipstick, I mean think about it, when you apply lipstick in the morning and by lunchtime you find most of it is gone, do you ever wonder where it’s gone? I know these days we have the matte lipsticks but even those do fade by the end of the day.
When Your Lipstick Fades where does it go?
So Let’s look at what is happening to your lipstick and where it’s ending up. First reason for your lipstick to fade could be that you are touching your face a lot and thus wiping your lipstick with your hands. Another reason could be that you are drinking water or coffee and your lipstick is been left on the cups or glass, of course with matte lipstick this doesn’t occur very much unless you are using the velvet matte.
So where is your lipstick disappearing to?? this will shock you and probably make you think twice when choosing a lipstick, most of your lipstick is ending up in your stomach, yeah that’s right, your lipstick is ending up in your tummy because you are probably licking your lips, and you are also eating food and some of your lipstick is getting on the food while you are eating.
And this apply to matte lipstick too because when a matte lipstick comes in contact with any kind of oil, it will rub off, that’s why they tell you to use oil for removing matte lipstick. Now this brings me to a question, is it safe to ingest lipstick? most of the lipsticks are made with ingredients that are not harmful, but at the same time are not meant to be eaten, but don’t worry if you ingest small amount of your lipstick, it’s not gonna make you sick.
I however advice you to try and not lick your lips so much, and when eating or drinking, try to be more careful, I mean we wear lipstick everyday(well I do) and so think about it, in a year, in two years how much lipstick would you or I have ingested?
I do have all kinds of lipsticks from different brands, and they are in different shades, and different kinds too, I sometimes use matte, velvet matte or just a good old lip gloss. So since I started blogging, I have been doing a lot of research about many things like make-up, skin care etc. And I have come across a lot of information that I didn’t know existed.
There are Many Lipsticks that are made from Natural Ingredients
For example, I have come across lipsticks that are made of natural ingredients and yet they look and feel so good on my lips, I am going to share a list of lipsticks that are made with natural ingredients, of course this does not mean that you can eat them.
It just means they are safer than our usual lip colors. It also doesn’t mean that I am going to throw away my Mac lipstick, no mam that stuff cost me a penny and a half so I am keeping it. But I will incorporate my natural lip colors with my normal lip colors, until I can fully transition to clean beauty.
So let me introduce you to safe non toxic lipsticks, I will start with 4 lipsticks that are super safe to use. you can find on the link below the image. you will be happy this company is dedicated to creating non toxic make-up, their products are cruelty free, and they are vegan suitable.
These four gorgeous lipsticks can be found at Butter London they are made by a company that makes beauty products without toxins which means they are safe to use and they are pocket friendly.

This one is so tempting, it’s very bold with many very enticing shades, that are Luxurious and rich, and the names of the shades are quite interesting, like Cha-Cha, Marrakesh or Spanish Rose, how about Night Sangria? mmmh very interesting, I am gonna put a picture of that one for sure. Well, this one promises natural hand crafted, without parabens or synthetic dyes or any toxic ingredients, and all raw ingredients are all cruelty-free.

I know my wife only gets the toxin free lipstick. If she can’t find it she goes with out. It’s just not healthy putting all them chemicals on your lips that you get with traditional lipsticks that are on the market today. Especially toxic when the lip stick gets into your stomach like you mentioned in the article. I’m glad my wife cares about herself enough to get the natural type lipsticks.
Hi Rose,
Thanks for a great article. My wife has sensitive skin and it goes the same for her lips. I want to get her a lipstick that is made of natural ingredients, but I’m not sure which one to go with. Would you be able to recommend which one you would go for from the selection?
Thanks!
Imran
Hi Imran thank you for your comment, I think for your wife I would recommend Ecco Bella because apart from being made of all natural ingredients, it also contains no Fragrance so it is ideal for people who are very sensitive.
again thank you so much.
Wonderful.I am happy that I come across this website and find this important article on natural toxin free lipsticks.I like using lipsticks but most of the time I am afraid that I can get some harm from those lipsticks.
I found solution though because your article reveals all the information I wanted about natural lipsticks which can’t be toxic to my health.
Thank you for sharing with us this post.
Hi Julienne, thank you so much for your kind words, I am glad I could help you find a good lipstick that will not harm you.
I was actually surprised during my research to find that there are so many lipsticks out there that are totally natural and organic, I am gonna continue digging and bringing them out, because they are small companies and that’s why we don’t know about them, but they are making things that are safe for us to use and still look good.
It’s funny, I clicked on your website because I think a lot lately about choosing more natural ingredients, natural choices and while lipstick is not for me I wanted to learn more about this product to give my wife some help.
She wears lipstick every day. And she has her favorite color and brand. But your question, “when your lipstick fades, where does it go” intrigued me…
I didn’t realize the truth, thought it just faded away like paint on a car. If women were more aware of what happens to the lipstick as they wear it they would surely try to make some better choices about their preferred products. It seems like manufacturers just focus on the looks, especially with lipstick and people don’t look deeper into finding out about the ingredients, just how it appears.
Thank you for your informative post I will surely share it with the women in my life.
Hi Raymond, thank you for clicking my site and also leaving me a comment, it makes me happy to know that people are actually reading my content. I like how you said that you think lipstick just fades like paint on a care lol, and you are so right about manufacturers focusing on the appearance rather than how safe a lipstick is to use, but I am glad to know that there are many natural and organic lipsticks out there, and tha’ts why I wanted to share this information so women can benefit.
and by the way, i have a post with natural skin care products for men, you might wanna take a look. thank you so much.
This is why I really don’t put on any lip color, I was afraid of ingesting something toxic and it builds up in my body. I do use bare nmineral, it is one of my favorites. Thank you for expanding my brands, now that I have more options. I am glad that you bring this topic, so we are all aware that looking beautiful, doesn’t mean that you have to harm your body.
Happy Holidays
The natural lipsticks toxins free is really promising to be Ok, I have a girl friend who is always using the lipstick and when kissing her it sticks to my lips, it is good to know that it will do no harm even if it can be ingested. So my question is that how about to the skin in general, you have mentioned that it does no harm when ingested and you have also stated that we should avoid ingesting it, I am just curious as to what is the long term effect on both the skin and on the stomach?
hello Nkhosingiphile, well,I think women should try not to ingest lipstick because in small amount it won’t cause harm but the problem is that we are wearing it everyday and so its not wise to ingest it even in small amounts especially the normal popular brands because the preservatives used and some even contain some micro plastic and heavy metal all those are not good for your kidneys and could even cause cancer if ingested for a long period of time., the natural ones a safer than the regular brands, the thing is regular brands have realized that people are more informed about toxins in makeup and skin care products and they are removing things that are obvious, but they are still using ingredients that are not completely safe. so I have made it my job to find skincare and make up that’s good and safe for us.
So we eat a lot of lipstick. Lol. I’ve never thought about it.
Anyway, I always prefer products with natural ingredients when it comes to my face and my body, so I will take a look on those lipsticks. They seem high quality lipsticks.
Thank you for your great post! 🙂
Hi Anna, yes we do eat our lipstick lol yes please take a look you will love them there are so many shades to choose from in any brand you choose, thank you so much for visiting my site and leaving me a comment.
Whenever I kissed my girlfriend I got allergy so I will get her Au Naturale Lipstick for this Christmas. And I will suggest this page so she can get lipsticks which are toxin free.
Hi Furkan, thank you so very much, I think that is a great choice for your girlfriend, they have many shades to choose from too.
again thank you
Your list is very detailed. I really would like to wear all of them at some point. It is a relief that we can get natural lipstick that will moisturize and protect our lips.
Nice article
Jasmin
Hi Jasmin, yes we can wear our lipstick with no fear. thank you so much for your comment.
I can personally vouch for the Bare Minerals lipsticks. I had skin cancer several years ago, and now I only use Bare Minerals makeup. All of their lip products are wonderful.
I am so happy to read your comment because you have experience with Bare Minerals, I keep telling my friends that natural make-up is good and the colors are as good, but some of them are still stuck in the regular brands and they don’t believe that you can get the same if not better color pay off with natural make-up.
thank you so much, for visiting my site and for your comment.
Hi Rose, It is wonderful to see how many Natural Toxin-free lipsticks are available now. Gosh, I had not thought of all the bad stuff going into my stomach each time I lick my lips.
From now on will be getting one of these. Will check out the colors as I love a deep rose and red lipsticks.
Thank you so much for all this helpful information.
Hi Jill, I too love deep red and Rose too ( nothing to do with my name lol) yes, there are many natural make-up out there but because the companies are small, they don’t have big advertise like Mac or Chanel and that’s why we don’t know so much about them. thank you for your comment.
I’ve been searching for a decent gift for my girlfriend for days now, and it’s got me pulling my hair out – but the search now seems to be over!
She loves natural products and I don’t think that she’s heard of natural toxin free lipstick choices. I am wondering how long they last for though, without any toxins? Do they lose their effectiveness quicker over time due to no preservatives in them?
Hi Rose – thanks for sharing this great article. I remember reading about this subject a couple of years ago, and thought it was pretty scary. I looked into getting some toxin free lipsticks, but at that time there wasn’t much choice and the colours were pretty uninspiring. I am glad you have highlighted the variety that is now available, and they look luxurious too, which is always a plus point. I love the Azalea shade by Henne, just my style! All the best, Diane
The other day I had an argument with my wife about her not using make up lately, ever. But I absolutely love that stuff. I love when women do put forth the effort to look really nice. I absolutely adore that. And I’m not shy about letting them know. To be honest, I love when people just in general use all of the available tools to look nice. Not to go overboard, but just enough to in a way augment one’s own beauty. I hope that make sense.
Either way the argument was about this stuff being toxic and not something she wants to put on, because of it. And I totally get that. However, I knew that there must be natural alternatives (I hadn’t really much explored this beforehand). She did imply that (if it were not-toxic) she would be okay with.
And vola! Thank you for all of these insights, loved it. And I really appreciate it.
Of the ones you listed Ilia was my absolute favorite one. The pictured color is one of the most liked by me. 🙂
Cheers, and Have a Great One!
Matiss
Hi Mattis, hope all is well now with you and your wife, Ilia is a good choice, and there are many shades to chose from, just click on the link and you can buy from amazon.
thank you so much for your comment and I am happy that your wife is concerned about the toxins in make-up, I will be posting more toxin free make-up including eye shadows and eye liners.
I’ve been on a look out for some new lipsticks to try. Even more so, if their natural and more friendly to health.
To tell you the truth, I had some very good idea of us actually eating the majority of the lipstick. I bet a bunch of it also ends up in our partners stomachs too. So, I believe to your point, it’s really, really important, even more so because of the other person involved, for the lipsticks to be as okay to unintentionally consume as possible.
I’m really glad you’re spreading the awareness. People need to be more mindful about what they are consuming, even if it’s something like the unintentional feast on some lipstick.
Loved the Evxo, will get some for myself. Other than that, I sincerely appreciate all the insights.
Have a Wonderful Day!
Rasa
Hi Rasa, you raise a very good point, I didn’t think that far, yes its true our partners are also swallowing some of the lipstick. all the more reason why we should make sure we are not feeding them toxins.
wow such a great point thank you so much Rasa. and Evxo is a good choice.
