5 Life Rules To Help You Live A Happy Life

5-life-rules

Today I would like us to take a look at 5 life rules. I recently read a very interesting book called Be Good For Good by Anthony Muiruri. The book focuses on being good always and being kind to others. Although it’s very important to be kind to others, most time we focus so much on being good to other people, that we forget to be good to ourselves.

Let me ask you this, how many times have you judged yourself harshly? How many times have you said negative words to yourself or about yourself? these 5 life rules, if you keep them in mind, will help you navigate life in a new and positive mindset about yourself.

5 Life Rules Be Kind, To Yourself

I have noticed that people tend to easily say negative things about themselves, especially when they are confronted by a situation that they are not comfortable with. Sometimes people would say the most horrible things about themselves, things they would never say to someone else.

You have the power to transform yourself into the best version of yourself, and it starts by speaking positively about yourself to yourself, I understand that you would feel uncomfortable praising yourself to other people, and actually, it could come across as if you are self-centered or egotistical. But at least speak good things to yourself.

As I get older I find that I tend to speak to myself more than I did when I was younger(no I am not insane it’s old people stuff lol) Speaking to some of my friends who are in the same age group as me, they confirmed that they too tend to speak to themselves now more than they did before. So I have learned to start saying positive things to myself.

Make Peace With The Past

This is something I struggle with daily. Making peace with the past, helps you move on and create a better future for yourself, now the problem is, it’s not easy to let go of the past. Each and every one of us has gone through something. And we all have a past, some good, some bad, and some very ugly.

But what good does it do to hold on to something that we cannot change? My all-time favorite quote is ” May I  have the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to tell the difference” .-Niebuh’s prayer.

We have a saying in my country that goes something like this ” making a mistake is not the mistake, but repeating the mistake, now that is the mistake” Meaning, as long as we learn from our past mistakes, then we should move on and make sure not to repeat the mistakes.

Distance Yourself From Toxic People

You know, sometimes you cannot change who people are, there are people who are naturally toxic, they could be friends, family members, or even someone you are in a romantic relationship with. I know it’s a tough decision to make but sometimes you are better off just cutting such people off from your life.

In my life I have had experiences where people have made it their mission to pull me down, no matter how hard I try to be a good person, to succeed in life, to improve myself, and work on being the very best version of myself, they remind me of where I came from, the mistakes I made along the way.

Those kinds of people, will never let you grow and be better, and some of them are actually driven by jealousy because they can see that you are making progress, so they pull you down to try and bring you back to their level. Do not let them. Always strive to be the best. Always work on yourself, read books, attend online classes, learn new skills that will help you better yourself.

Accept The Fact That You Might Not Have all The Answers

It’s OK to still have questions, we might not have all the answers but this life is a journey, it’s not an event, as we move forward, we learn more and more. I watched a very funny video on TikTok just recently. There was this guy filming and it so happened that there was a chicken crossing the road and he chased the chicken to ask it why it crossed the road lol.

Maybe we will never know the truth, we will never know why the chicken crossed the road, and it’s OK, we don’t have to know everything.

Your Happiness Is Your Responsibility

If you rely on other people to make you happy, you will be disappointed. Take the matters into your own hands, be in charge of your happiness. Create and tell your own story. Most time I hear people especially single women saying, “I am looking for a man who can make me happy”.

The truth is, people will always disappoint you and, if you keep your hope on another person to bring you happiness, you will be miserable, because they will not be able to make you happy, especially if they themselves are not happy. Just be happy on your own, and then when you finally find someone, you can be happy together.

Conclusion

In this life, we’ll face different challenges but it’s not about how many times we fall, but how many times we get up and keep moving, just remember, you are in charge of your destiny.  And remember, always listen to your gut feeling. Many are times that I wish I had listened to my gut feeling.

I believe our spirits are alive and always trying to warn us always trust your gut feeling. Anyway, I hope you have found my article interesting. If so please tell me below and share your own life rules with us.

Thank you for reading.

Rose.
