Top 5 best natural mascara of 2019

All things are possible with a cup of coffee and a good mascara

I won’t cry for you, my mascara is too expensive

OK I could lie and say I am responsible for those two quotes but I will just tell the truth and say I just found them on the web 🙂

Today we are going to review top 5 best natural mascara of 2019.

But before we do that, lets first look at the history of mascara, did you know that mascara was widely used by the ancient Egyptians thousands of years ago? in those days the mascara was made of charcoal mixed with honey and in some strange instances was also made out of crocodile dang. Imagine that 🙂

But in ancient Egypt makeup was not used purely for beauty purposes, it was used as a way to protect their skin from harsh weather conditions, and also since the ancient Egyptians were also very spiritual, putting makeup on was also a big ritual to protect one from evil spirits.

From Egypt the mascara found its way to Europe where it was received very well, by the Greeks and the Romans, but in those days mascara was reserved only for wealthy women, who were very obsessed with the idea of long dark eye lashes, to them it represented beauty, prestige and wealth, and so every rich woman had to have this product as part of their look especially when one is expected to appear at an occasion.

Of course the mascara of those days is nothing like the mascara we use today, in 1913 a French Chemist named Eugene Rimmel, came up with an idea that will define how women wear mascara, and his discovery saw the first creation of modern mascara, the problem though was that Rimmel did not market his creation so well.

Then came in another guy who took over the creation of mascara and packaged it in a different way and marketed it better than Rimemel, he went on to start a cosmetic company called Maybelline, then the female movies stars accepted it and the rest as they say is history.

Of course we’ve come a long way from charcoal and crocodile dang to more advanced formulas, and there are all kinds to choose from. so our focus today is mascara that is free of all kinds of toxins, mascara that’s made of natural and safe ingredients,

I am very sure that women of 1913 didn’t have many options so they had to use what was available in the market, but now we have options and we can chose not to use makeup that’s parked with all kinds of toxins and materials that are not safe for our eyes or skin.

And so in this list of top 5 best natural mascara of 2019, we are going to find 5 mascaras that will give quality performance as well as safety that you need in order to look fabulous and be healthy at the same time.

Mascara is one thing that women have to be very careful about because its right there on your eye, so its getting in contact with your sensitive eye, if you use the wrong kind of mascara, things could go very bad, and also you must make sure that you are not using an expired mascara.

So lets jump right into our list, we start with a mascara made by a company that I absolutely love, I like how this mascara is all natural, vegan, cruelty free and absolutely amazing, I am talking about Bold Statement Vegan Mascara by Aunaturale.

  3. Hello Rose,

It’s always advisable to go toxin free especially when dealing with products that come in close proximity to sensitive body organs like the eye. I don’t use mascara but I love seeing real dark eyelids, I think I one of the few guys who appreciate this more than anything else. I think I like the MEGA VOLUME LACQUER MASCARA because it’s stylish.

Can this natural mascaras be worn over night and even to bed without harming the eyelashes?

  4. Hi Rose,Thanks for the brilliant article on how mascara got its start. I just sent your website link to my cousin who is a makeup artist. I am sure she would find it very informative. I was actually amazed to read about how the ancient Egyptians formulated their mascara from charcoal and other ingredients. It’s amazing how things have changed over the years. Those ancient Egyptians must have exposed themselves to a lot of harmful toxins. Thanks to pioneers like Eugene Rimmel, the cosmetic industry has seen a lot of improvements recently. Other than the use of mascara to enhance beauty, do any of the products on the shelves offer any health or medicinal benefits? Fashion keeps evolving over the years. I just hope women woud be more careful when applying these products in order not to compromse their eye sight for the sake of beauty.

  13. Hey, Rose!
Very nice review, it was fun learning the history behind mascaras! I have heard about the Egyptians using it but didn’t know about the Greeks and Romans. That’s so cool!

About the mascaras you recommended, do you know if any of them are waterproof? Speaking as someone who cries a lot, that’s kind of a big deal to me LOL.

Thank you so much for sharing this with us!
    Have a wonderful week,
    Barbara.
